Course Length

Two years (or one year depending on individual circumstances).

The course

Mathematics can be described, at this level, as the formulation and application of both numerical and abstract concepts. The student of Mathematics has to be creative and imaginative, have a sense of flair and most importantly be curious about the world around them. Mathematics touches on many areas and requires intellectual flexibility and a methodical approach.

Mathematics has a clear influence on Accountancy, Engineering, Finance, Physics and many other areas. At the same time it is an active field of research in its own right.

The course is divided into three components or assessment objectives:

  • Demonstrate knowledge, understanding and skill in number and algebra
  • Demonstrate knowledge, understanding and skill in geometry, trigonometry and vectors
  • Demonstrate knowledge, understanding and skill in statistics and probability.
